EC Workshop: What's the BIG IDEA? 7 ways to protect it before you pitch it.

Prominent Nashville entertainment attorney Barry Shrum offers some practical and legal advice about how to protect your unique ideas as you pitch them to friends and investors.

Bio: Mr. Barry Neil Shrum, is a highly experienced entertainment lawyer who has been practicing law in the intellectual property, music, entertainment & business industries for over 25 years and is a frequent mentor and advisor at the EC. In addition to his transactional work, Mr. Shrum is also an experienced litigator, having practiced law in Philadelphia as both a litigator with a large Center City firm and as in-house counsel to a large Fortune 50 company. After returning to Nashville, he has represented some of the country's most prominent celebrities and has been lead counsel on major copyright infringement cases winning significant verdicts for his clients. He has negotiated and closed hundreds of deals exploiting and monetizing the rights of his clients and have helped protect countless individuals and entrepreneurs through the structuring and management of intellectual property rights.

InFlight Info Session (October 3)

If you are a startup interested in applying for the 2018 InFlight Program, this is your opportunity to join a small group of like-minded folks to hear about the program and ask your questions.

You can join in-person at the EC, or join via conference call. Call details will be shared the day of the info session.

The EC's InFlight program leverages the EC’s full resource network of advisors, curriculum, and community to accelerate the growth and development of early-stage startup companies for a full year. Enrolled entrepreneurs are provided with year-round, industry-leading programming as well as ongoing support.

Project Music Portfolio Startup Showcase

For the past 7 months, twelve hand-picked startups from our Project Music Portfolio program have been working intensively with the EC team, advisors, industry experts, and thought leaders.

This exclusive event is the culmination of their progress so far and is a chance for you learn about their businesses and interact with the teams.

BONUS: Alumni Pitch Hear from 2015 Project Music alumni Jammber as they update us on their progress. Jammber has already raised $2.4 million and was recently featured in TechCrunch. Jammber has designed the first ever mobile suite of tools that help creators get paid for their work from start to finish.

Community Coffee

Community Coffee presented by Sherrard Roe Voigt & Harbison, is a networking breakfast welcoming local creatives, entrepreneurs and leaders to connect and celebrate Nashville’s startup community. Each event will showcase an EC entrepreneur and the EC team will be available to welcome you and answer any questions. Light breakfast and coffee will be provided.

EC Workshop: Branding & Positioning: Simple but necessary ways to strengthen your brand

Google, Netflix, and Nike were once small companies with less than 10 employees. Now their company and brands are ubiquitous. How did these companies build such amazing brands? They all underwent brand positioning exercises and spent years refining and perfecting their position in the market. In this session, you'll go through exercises that will help you position your company and leave no questions about who you are and what you stand for. This is not a lecture--come with a pen and paper!

Bio: Danny Belch currently leads Strategy and Marketing at STRIVR, a virtual reality training platform. Danny has worked at Google after his first company, Wildfire, was acquired by them in 2012. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School. He was an Academic All-American track and field runner as an undergrad at Stanford University. He enjoys exercise, cooking, golf, going to Costco, Broadway musicals, and doing the NYT Crossword Puzzle.
